i iz a zombie

that's right.
from september to about now, the first semester of this master's degree took about 95% of my time. for maths. most of which didn't really interest me anyway.
no, i didn't like having hours and hours of classes (between 35 and 40 per week). i didn't enjoy having to keep up with music and, you know, real stuff. like eating and sleeping and breathing and going to the toilet, sort of thing.
what kept me going? my boyfriend and a damn cistern of black tea. also, the prospect of spending six weeks in Sydney as a guest student, in june and july, to study quantum groups.
this semester has been among the worst so far. not enough subjects, wayyy to much analysis.
i spent most of the xmas holidays revising for next week's exams. four freakin hours each. one per day for five days.
now this week we still have classes, which only confuse everyone and basically sit on everything we've been trying to learn and understand for the past months.

what do you reply to a teacher who tells you that he doesn't care about vectors because translations don't exist anyway? who keeps confusing bilinear forms and quadratic forms? (the difference being: in the first one you need 2 variables, in the 2nd one, well, only one... that kinds of MAKES a goddamn difference right??)
or someone who tells you to use your common sense to compute integrals over sets you haven't even defined yet?
or, best one of all, someone who keeps going on about vector products in a 2-dimensional space?
for the laughs, how does a geodesic curve work? answer: see a sphere? you twist it and you get an elastic ribbon!
...
rrrright. that's almost a good reason to start drinking and going on binges again.

so yeah, it's about time for this most unenjoyable semester to end.
this blog ain't dead, see. it's just in a sort of coma.

meanwhile...
go and read some discworld novels, it kills time really well (by hitting it on the head with the books :p)

cheerio, see you in 2 weeks, hopefully.
