sydney - go wild!

ce qui s'est passé après glebe market?
bah... j'ai essayé pendant 1h de descendre du riz avec un peu de jambon. essayé hein. tout en cherchant de l'air et en regardant le pc en me disant "faut que je mette une update"...
puis aussi j'arrivais pas à supporter la solitude, probablement parce que j'étais un peu cassée et que j'avais la trouille que quelque chose de pourri arrive de nouveau.
je me décide donc à appeler un de mes collègues de bureau, qui m'avait donné son numéro "au cas où". ça m'a demandé un gros effort psychologique, parce que bon, déranger les gens comme ça, bêtement, en plein week-end, ça le fait pas.
je crois que j'ai rencontré une des plus gentilles personnes au monde.
le monsieur vient, me sort, me fait marcher, causer, prendre un thé avec un toasted cherry cake (c'est bon, oh my god, c'est bon, jvais grossir). il fait un temps dégueulasse, pluie battante (ça va) et beaucoup de vent (là ça va pas!). la météo a été immonde comme ça depuis hier, hein.
on passe vite fait par la fac (eh, ça fait ça en moins d'internet à payer! :p), puis promenade à newtown, au sud du campus. il pleut mais les trottoirs sont abrités, avec des enseignes flashy. on flâne, on passe le temps, j'achète 2 bouquins: le premier de la trilogie russe night watch, et the call of ctulhu. ai démarré le russe, il vaut le détour!
ensuite, on se redirige vers broadway (ça fait une sacrée trotte mais en fait je m'en foutais complètement), on cause de tout, on va voir les horaires de cinéma: y a x-men qui est bien tentant...
bon, soit. tentative de dîner au food court de broadway, le truc le plus digeste possible: bouillon de nouilles de riz avec du poulet blanc et des carottes. rien à faire, ça descend pas du tout, retour de l'état pourri, c'est la loose, les jambes répondent plus.
et là, miracle: le collègue providentiel me propose de passer la nuit chez lui, sur son canapé (j'avais pile la bonne taille pour bien dormir dessus ^^), histoire de pas être toute seule s'il arrive encore une tuile.

j'ai dormi comme un mort, tellement que le chat CHAAAAAAAAAT♥, qui m'a reniflée, pokée quelques fois et finalement dormi dessus, ben je l'ai pas remarqué. c'est Foxie, magnifique demoiselle de 5 ans, noire avec un plastron blanc et les bouts des pattes blanches, avec une fourrure digne d'un alpaga. elle fait des câlins, elle est belle, douce, joueuse. boule de poiiiiiiils!

lendemain donc, dimanche, après gagatisation et fonte de cerveau devant le CHAAAAAAAAT, j'accepte l'invitation pour accompagner la chérie de mon collègue et ses enfants, à sydney wildlife world. je regrette pas! ai pris le tramway de sydney :) cette ville est tellement propre, j'en reviens toujours pas.
on arrive donc à darling harbour pour visiter ledit wildlife world, doté d'une exposition temporaire de constructions en lego géantes. (l'aquarium aussi mais j'y irai plus tard)

biggest freakin cockroach on this crazed planet. it's as big as your palm. it's black. it's fast. it's a nightmare.
i've learnt that no matter how clean your place is here, you'll always get a roach or two from time to time in your bathroom, coming from nowhere. it's fine because i'm quick enough to catch and swat them and they just end up in the loo. aparently the whole neighbourhood has that issue and they just sort of live with it.
after seeing that, i'm never complaining about cockroaches in my bathroom ever again. holy smokes.

largest snake in australia, 5 meters long. you could almost use it to hang your laundry.



most venomous snake in the world, the inland taipan. it's very shy and reclusive, not agressive at all. its fangs are shaped as syringe needles, and its venom usually causes instant kidney failure in humans, weakens the muscles a lot and can cause lung failure as well, not to mention bleeding disorder after a couple of minutes.
it's not the most dangerous of all snakes, because it won't attack unless it's too scared, cracks up and defends itself. still. just checking the thickness of the glass here...

meet Rex. this is a 5-meter-long saltwater crocodile. it's 40 years old. he used to love eating pet dogs in northers australia, before getting captured (that took quite some efforts). his species is 230 million years old. when he was in the wild, he was sort of a sociopath, because he ate 2 of his fellow crocodile neighbours. he weighs around 700 kg, can gain one more meter in length and live at least 40 more years.

it's 20AU$ to pat a koala and have a photo next to it developed. and you can't take one home to cuddle him and call him george. life is unfair. squeeeeeeeeee!




moving on now to little night dwellers, mostly rodents that live in the outback and only go out at night.
this country has too many cute furballs. i don't think i could live there. brain would melt too often.

this is a chuditch. its white spots glow in the dark and it runs very, very fast. they are an endangered species :(

they weren't too happy with the rain and the cold weather, they were mostly staying sheltered by rocks and wood panels.

MOAR LEGO CAMEL MADNESS! une partie des explorateurs qui ont tenté de traverser l'australie du sud au nord, et retour. un survivant.

un cassowary, le plus dangereux oiseau au monde. its head's bone protrusion is mainly used for parting rainforest vegetation when it runs in a straight line to charge. it's said to be quite agressive and generally a mean bastard.

actually, koalas are sleepy not because they're high on eucalyptus leaves, but because their diet gives them very few nutrients and low energy, so they've adapted their lifestyle according to this. instead of trying to find something else to nibble on. also, they're endangered because there are less and less eucalyptus trees every year.


so there, a lovely afternoon, followed by a massive burger at harbourside's food court.
now it's stopped raining, i'll go out, grab some lunch and visit some more!
